Tuesday, December 8, 2020 saw the monthly rollup of updates from Microsoft, which addresses the following issues:

  • Addresses an issue in which PDF24 Creator version 9.1.1 cannot open .txt files

  • Security updates to Windows Graphics, Windows Peripherals, and Windows Core Networking

The security update includes improvement and fixes to issues that arose in Microsoft's November 2020 update, but did not address the 'rename' issue that was noted in their November update. They do have the same workaround listed for the 'rename' issue, which is stated as follows:

  • Perform the operation from a process that has administrator privilege, OR

  • Perform the operation from a node that doesn't have CSV ownership.

Other important information released by Microsoft during the roll out of this month's update is as follows:

  • Adobe Flash Player will go out of support on December 31, 2020. This means that Flash content will be blocked from running in Flash Player beginning January 12, 2021. For more information on this, click here.

  • Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 have reached the end of mainstream support and are now in extended support. Since July 2020, there has not been any optional, non-security releases for this operating system. Operating systems in extended support have only cumulative monthly security updates.
